Dental Implants — Overview

Dental implants replace missing or damaged teeth with lifelike restorations. Instead of natural roots, small titanium posts (implants) are fixed securely into the jawbone. Implants are an excellent alternative to removable dentures and bridges, especially when conventional tooth-borne solutions are not possible. They provide stability, a natural appearance, and comfort in eating and speaking.

Who Is a Candidate

Implants are ideal if you want a stable, long-term solution instead of bridges or removable dentures.

◾ sufficient bone volume or willingness to undergo bone augmentation;

◾ good oral hygiene and motivation for maintenance.

◾ general health (e.g., diabetes should be controlled; oncology treatments etc. by agreement);

◾ smoking and bruxism (may require splints/limitations);

◾ gum health, bite, parafunctions.

Final indications/limitations are defined after consultation and CBCT.

Your Treatment Journey

◽ Preparation (online). You send photos/panoramic image; we discuss goals, timing and options. On arrival — CBCT, scanning, and a confirmed plan and quotation within 24 hours.

◽ Surgery. Implant placement under local anaesthesia; when needed — sinus lift, bone grafting, guided surgery. In selected cases immediate provisional loading is possible.

◽ First days. Local cooling, gentle hygiene, antiseptic rinses, pain control. Sutures are usually removed on day 7–10.

◽ Prosthetics. After osseointegration we place the abutment and the final crown/bridge; with immediate loading the temporary is replaced by a definitive restoration as planned.

Techniques & Solutions

◾ Single implant + crown — conservative, no preparation of adjacent teeth.

◾ Multiple implants + bridge — for several adjacent gaps.

◾ All-on-4 / All-on-6 — fixed full-arch prosthesis on 4–6 implants; in some cases a provisional can be fitted the same day.

◾ Immediate vs delayed loading — chosen by primary stability, bone quality and occlusion.

◾ Bone augmentation — sinus lift (open/closed), guided bone regeneration (GBR), bone blocks.

◾ Zygomatic implants — for severe maxillary atrophy, in specialised centres and by strict indication.

◾ Materials & fixation — titanium Grade 4/5 implants, titanium or zirconia abutments; full ceramic/zirconia crowns, screw-retained preferred for serviceability.

◾ Digital surgery — 3D planning and printed guides improve accuracy and predictability.

Timeline & Recovery

◽ Diagnostics and planning — 1 day (tests and CBCT within 24 hours).

◽ Surgery — approximately 30–120 minutes per site/arch (depends on scope).

◽ Suture removal — 7–10 days.

◽ Osseointegration — typically 3–4 months in the mandible and 4–6 months in the maxilla.

◽ Immediate loading (when indicated) — provisional prosthesis within 24–72 hours plus a soft diet for 6–8 weeks.

◽ Diet — soft, warm food for 1–2 weeks; avoid very hot/spicy foods, alcohol and smoking.

◽ Hygiene — soft toothbrush, prescribed mouthwash; irrigator after initial healing.

◽ Final crowns/prosthesis — 1–3 visits after integration; check-ups every 6–12 months.
